I was a little nervous about turning the big 30 this year. I mean, I can no longer pretend like I am just a cool twenty year old, taking care of kids all day. I have to finally admit that I am a some what responsible lady with three kids. Yep, I said it THREE! and boys for that matter. This summer I am officially going to be one of those always at a ball game mom's driving my mini van and handing out juice boxes. WHOO HOO! It actually isn't so bad. I wouldn't trade any of this for anything. My husband and kids are the best thing that has happened to me.
So back to the weekend. It started off with a wonderful surprise on Thursday night. My longest and best friend and her mother showed up and stayed the weekend with me. It was really cool! I was in the middle of cooking dinner and hadn't planned on them till Friday, but then I heard a knock on the door. I answered it kinda rude, cause I thought it was my neighbor girl for the 4th time, wanting to see if the kids were done eating. YAY! it wasn't. I was so glad to have some more ladies in the house and two of my favorites. we stayed up way too late talking, but it was worth it. I could talk to them forever.
The next day we went to a luncheon at my RS president's house. Another sweet surprise. I thought it was just a few friends and it ended up being all the ladies from our ward. We had so much fun eating and chit chatting while the kids ran and played. Elisabeth was so sweet to host it even with home repairs going on. That night we headed out on a GNO out.
Dawn and Sharon spoiled me with dinner at Chuy's and a movie. Chuy's was amazing. It was so good I made Chris take me a couple weeks later for a date. We caught HPand the DH part 1, and it was much better than I was expecting and reunited my love of the books.
Saturday morning, my Mom and Dad surprised me too. My mom had been giving me sob stories all week of how they couldn't come, because their house was being painted. Well, I was a little suspcious when I called her at like 8 in the morning and she claimed she was at Lowes picking out paint. First off she never makes it out of the house that early, and second of all she only buys her paint from Sherwin williams or "Sherman Williams" as she calls it. LOL So when I heard the doorbell and Chris was like twenty feet away and was yelling at me to answer it I had it figured out, but it was still a fun surprise. We had some breakfast and then headed out shopping. I needed something cute for the family dinner we were going to have that night at a Japanese restaurant.
That evening I received again another surprise. Chris had been very sneaky and planned a birthday party for me at Nami's Japanese Grill. He drug me out of the house for an appointment that was pretend and acted like the guy was a no show. So we headed to dinner where all my friends were waiting. Our house was the babysitting spot. I was so surprised and glad to see Chris's parents had snuck into town too. So many people I love were there. the food was delicious and very entertaining. Chris picked a great venue and a delicious cake.
He also had managed to put a beautiful book together with pictures of my beautiful children and sweet messages from my friends who live too far to come for a weekend. There were so many wonderful memories from my friends the Sherwoods, the Gibsons, the Willinghams, and my sister in Indiana. Chris said that he didn't know all my friends emails, so if there are any of you out there reading this that didn't get his email wanting memories of us together, I am sorry, and hope you will feel free to write something in my message box. I promise to print them out and add them to the book. I really enjoyed reading the ones I got and they definitely made me miss my friends. I wish the US wasn't so huge, so I could see you guys more often.
It was a great weekend of good friends, family, and food. My favorite "F" words. I hope that 30 is good to me. It has been so far. I have been blessed with an amazing husband who really tries to make me and the kids happy and comfortable. My kids are the greatest I could ask for and my family and friends are always there to help out. I am so glad to have Dawn and Sharon back in Texas, so we can get together more often. I hope everyone is lucky enough to celebrate their milestones in a fun way. It definitely makes it easier.

Oh bummer he didn't have my email address!
Dear Sara,
I wish I could be your neighbor again. I miss the days when we would just get together and chat about everything and nothing at the same time. I love your humor and personality and how you can light up a room with it. You are an amazing mother and I hope I am 1/2 the mom you are. I think of you and I can't help but get a smile on my face. I wish I could have celebrated your birthday with you. I think we need to do a girls trip and meet somewhere so we all can chat about everything and nothing again! I love you! Happy 30th Birthday! Love and Hugs,
Amy
What a great birthday! Glad it was wonderful! Happy day to you!
