Death to Pigeons and Grandma Lot a Fun turns 86

After our fun day at the water park we headed to my Aunt Charlotte's home where she most generously put us all up for the night. I think she might reconsider before offering up her house to fifteen extra people, but we had fun and it was very nice of her. I hope that her poor bird is fully recovered after her close call with the dogs, but that is another story.

and my Dad got to work shooting the pigeons that were taking over their ranch.

and we enjoyed relaxing on their patio.

Amazingly it was cool and breezy, for July in Texas that was pretty surprising. Aunt Charlotte says it is like that all the time there, so maybe living in the country on a ranch has it's benefits.

The next we woke up and I go to work making cupcakes for my wonderful Grandma's 86th birthday. They were Scottish Terriers in honor of her beloved dog Matilda who passed away a few years ago.



Ashley and Emily really enjoyed helping me make them and the rest of the kids really enjoyed eating them.



I sure am grateful to have my Grandma still around. It was a lot of fun getting most of the great grand kids there to celebrate with her. I think it will be a day she will remember...well maybe!

Sorry about getting wordy in the last post. I know everyone just wants to look at pictures. So here goes.

After the 4th of July stuff we headed up to Splash Kingdom with all the neices and nephews.

We had a lot of fun. Thanks Mom and Dad for footing the bill. I think me and Chris will have to go by ourselves sometime, so I can actually ride some of the slides and things, but it was fun watching the girls wag Caleb and Joshua around like little mommies. Benny even got up enough nerve to do all the kiddy slides.

Afterward we headed over to my Aunt Charlotte's ranch home for the night. But that is for another post.

Vacation Vacation! Finally Home At Last

Well it has been a very busy and long three weeks. we started off by taking a trip to Amarillo, to visit Chris's Grandmother. Chris had planned a camping trip to the canyon up there for the Boy Scouts, so me and the kids and Chris's mother took a road trip too. We did not camp; we enjoyed the nice A/C. While we were there Chris took the camera with him so I don't have any fun pictures. But We had a blast just hanging out with his Grandmother. She has more energy than all of us put together and still goes dancing like three times a week.

We went one day to see Chris at the campsite and have lunch with him. The canyon was amazing and reminds me a lot of Utah. It was very pretty and scenic. I wouldn't mind living in Amarillo probably if it wasn't for the constant smell of cow manure from all the ranches.

Then we got to have lunch with Chris's aunt and great aunt and I left the kids with Nona and headed to Lubbock to visit my best gal pal Dawn. She just recently moved there from Florida for school and I was so excited to have her closer. Unfortunately she had some rather exciting news to discuss and I may be losing her again shortly to North Carolina. It seems that she is going to be abandoning her bachelorette phase soon. Oh well, my excitement for her out weighs my disappointment. I can't wait till we can talk about all the joys of married life together, and if everything goes as planned I will get to do another wedding cake. I am much more nervous about this one cause it has to absolutely be perfect for her or I will just die. So needless to say, if you want to come and visit in the next few months please do cause I will need lots of help eating all the practice cakes.

After that I drove back to Amarillo where Chris had said goodbye to the scouts and come to spend a day with us at his Grandma's. We ate that night at the world famous "Big Texan". Don't worry I did not let Chris take the 72 oz steak challenge. We had regular size steaks that were delicious and I even tried mountain oysters for the first time. They weren't bad and taste mostly like really chewy chicken fried steak.

The next day we drove back to Temple and rested for two days. Then I headed out to visit with my Mom for a week. She has had the fortunate opportunity to have six of her grand babies staying with for the month of July, and with me there it made nine. So needless to say we planned some fun activities to do to pass the time.

First night there We hit the midnight showing of Eclipse. My niece Ashley who is 14 actually thought I was cool enough to go with so I couldn't turn her down. So my Mom was generous enough to by the tickets and candy and popcorn and the three of us had a blast listening to the crowed go wild every time Jacob came on screen shirtless. I have to say that out of the three movies they have done so far, this has been the best. The characters are finally learning how to act, and I guess they finally earned enough money to buy a tripod, because the cinematography was way better.

The rest of the week we just hung out. Then on July 3 we had our fourth of July celebration and ate way too much food and popped way to many fireworks. We went to the lake in Tyler to watch the city show, but after watching stadium of fire the last three years in Provo, we weren't that impressed. Guess it is hard to compete with the #3 show in the nation. Oh and no pictures cause Chris broke the camera on the camp out.

All in all we had a great week and I really enjoyed getting to hang out with my nieces and nephews who I don't get to see very much. Jeremy and Ashley are especially getting to be fun, now that they are teenagers and we can talk about movies and stuff. I sure hope they will come visit us again next summer. I can't believe they are getting so old. I was just a kid when Jeremy was born and in High school when Ashley was born and now they are in High School. Oh well they are really great kids and I am proud of the young adults they have become.

We did a couple more fun things before I came home but it will have to wait till later cause my kids are going crazy and need attention or they are going to start a fire or worse.
